The normally busy summer travel season is winding down now, as parents finish up that last-minute school shopping for kids who dread the start of a new school year, and we plan for one last hurrah over Labor Day weekend before we contemplate pulling fall clothes down from those high shelves. But if you just can't bear to think about another several months before you get a break, or you missed out on a trip this summer, all is not lost.
If you're in the United States, you've probably noticed the periodic ridiculously cheap deals on America's most hedonistic city - Las Vegas. And if you haven't noticed them before, now's the time to start checking. Because I'll let you in on a little secret - you don't have to be a high-roller to get crazy good deals on Vegas trips. You can just take advantage of all the money Vegas makes off the people who are high-rollers.
Sure, some people win in Vegas - and win big. But the vast majority of the people who visit Sin City come back with lighter wallets than they had when they arrived. It's fine by me if they think that money they're leaving at the blackjack table is akin to the entry fee to a show or amusement park (in that it's the price of admission to a pastime they find entertaining) - even if I think they're crazy to be "throwing money away," I'm thankful they do it. Because it means Vegas offers sales to non-gamblers like me, too.
All you need to do is browse through the many cheap flights to Las Vegas that are available from just about every airport in the United States (major or not) to start seeing the possibilities for an all-out vacation on a budget. Look closer and you'll see that many of those deals are flight + hotel combos wrapped into one, making them even more tempting to those of us who don't have time to research all the details of a trip. And to make them even better, it's not like we're talking about weird hotels a long way from the action - most of the time those combo deals are for hotels on the Las Vegas Strip.
Still not convinced? Well, try this on for size. Y'know how every time you buy something online there's a place on the checkout screen that asks if you have promotional or discount codes? And how you always wish you had one? Then pop over and grab one of these Travelocity coupon codes before you finish shopping for your Vegas vacation to find out how much more you can save on an already-cheap holiday.
Now all you have to do is avoid the casino floors to let the gamblers continue to subsidize your Vegas trip!
