The past 10 days have been crazybusy for me.  I have been pushing myself todo as much as humanly possible in 24 hour periods.  I want the trip to be a worthwhile investment for the BnA Community,  so I internalize it and go fucking hard, for a long time.

A friend just passed on this quote to me that sorta relates to the above:  Read it after the jump.

Potty Mouth

That guy had a potty mouth like a motherfucker!

Heard it last night...a bloke I met at a party was swearing left and right...started talking about another bloke and said the above.  A very funny moment.

Huge pile of really smelly unwashed clothes

I had a backpacking ex-workmate stay at my apartment while he was in town to collect some paperwork. He dumped a huge pile of really smelly unwashed clothes on the living room floor - which was so bad I had to bag it up in a bin liner when I got home. He smoked weed all day in the living room and that smell also permeated everything. Then when he was good and high, he went out into the stairwell and smoked cigarettes, leaving the butts and ash on the steps. I asked him once to clean it up, which he did, but the next day he did it again and the landlady came and spoke to me about the mess. I had to ask him to move on after a few days.

What a guy!

Which is to say, many companies base their user experience on the wrong things: office politics, "me-too" reactions to competitors, the "rules" of information architecture tactics, inertia ("we've always done it this way"), the ego of the graphic designer (who just wants to work at a print magazine), serving advertiser interests at the expense of the user, and a dozen other excuses for why they just can't afford to pay attention to the customer.
